Literacy for Bangladeshi Ladies

Literacy Programme (Bangladesh)

bangladesh-women_lgOver half of Bangladesh’s adult women are illiterate, resulting in low self-esteem and a lack of meaningful employment.

OM’s training programmes provide the necessary reading and writing to skills to give these women hope for the future. Within the context of reading and writing, the course also covers hygiene issues and healthy family living.

Helena’s Story

Come heat, rain or family problems, Helena never missed her class. Throughout the nine month, two-hour per day literacy course, she was always there. Although well into her 40s, she was determined to blot out the shame of illiteracy and to be an example to her children and her grandchildren.

Just £250 will pay for a woman to attend a 9-month OM literacy training programme.
